There is nothing in the world that can actually compare to food - in my mind anyway! This month we are going to be posting about our favourite topic - FOOD! From preparing it, to cooking it, to eating it! Also some tips on good restaurants and take-out (both healthy and unhealthy) selections!
I am going to specifically talk about the preparation and different types of cooking that I love. I do not ever follow recipes - I read them; get the ingredients and remix it! Sometimes I cannot even lie - I try my food and am surprised it came out tasting great.
As it is Autumn, the best types of food to be having for dinner now is Casseroles. They are warm, filling, healthy and so easy to make! My first year at university (I am saying this as if I have finished - I am only in my second year!); I found this so handy to make. Beef casserole was the best thing to put to slow cook from about 1pm and its ready by about 4/5 and there is always enough for the next day!
Here is the ingredients list (I am not going to tell you a recipe...you come up with that on your own! Be Creative!):
- olive oil
- 1 onion , diced
- 1 carrot , diced
- 1 leek , diced
- 2 celery sticks, diced
- 2 garlic cloves , crushed
- 75g mushrooms , sliced
- 500g braising steaks , cubed
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 3 sprigs of thyme
- beef stock , fresh, cube or concentrate made up to 750ml
- 2 tbsp tomato purée
- a dash of Worcestershire sauce
I got this list from BBC good foods website....you can go on it as well to get the recipe if you want to look up a method! (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3923/beef-and-vegetable-casserole )
I always add more than the ingredients like Basil, italian herbs, all purpose seasoning, maggi ....etc. As I said I always remix everything!
Let us know when you try it and tell me if you remixed it or kept to the method on the website!
Love and Hugs girlies!
